Saunté Harden-Tate

Saunté Harden-Tate (pronounced Sahn-tay) is the creator of a Web-based show “Oh! We Gon’ Talk!” This web show facilitates conversations centered around generational trauma within the black community. With a deep-rooted passion for healing, advocating, and educating the community on trauma, she has over 12 years of experience in advocacy, and prevention work which includes advocating for the rights of people such as survivors of domestic and sexual violence, at-risk youths and young adults, holistic trauma-informed care, and the LGBTQ+ community. She holds an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral and Social Sciences (concentration in Psychology), and a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology.

She was a 2022 Healing Academy Honoree for services in social-emotional learning, and a 2023 Honoree for Pathways to Healing for services in Mental Health. Saunté is a long-standing active member of Surviving the Mic and uses public speaking, writing, and spoken word poetry to advocate and educate others on the different traumas, stigmas, and obstacles survivors of sexual and domestic violence face. She was chosen as the featured artist for CAASE’s 2020 and 2023 annual fundraisers.

Saunté is passionate about trauma-informed care in social services, bridging the gaps in communication across generations, and educating the community on the effects of trauma. She continues to speak to the community and advocate through creative writing and participating in community-based events across the South and Westside of Chicago.
