Honoring Our Pro Bono Partners

September 6, 2018

Through CAASE’s Pro Bono Project, private firm attorneys work on behalf of local survivors of sexual assault and sex trafficking. CAASE attorneys assess clients’ legal needs and eligibility for services, link them with trained pro bono attorneys and provide ongoing support and mentorship to pro bono attorneys representing CAASE-referred clients. Each year we hold an event to share our appreciation for the hard work and successes of the firms and pro bono attorneys who dedicate their time and energy to survivors of sexual exploitation and violence by providing them with exceptional representation.

This year we honored the law firm Mayer Brown and presented the award to their Pro Bono Advisor, Marc Kadish. Mayer Brown has been an ally to CAASE by hosting trainings and taking on complicated legal matters on behalf of survivors. We also honored individual attorneys, George Haines and Lisa Holl-Chang, for their work in representing survivors of sex trafficking through the Justice for Victims of Sex Trafficking Act (JVST) and setting precedent for vacating convictions obtained long after the survivor left their trafficker.

CAASE’s Pro Bono Project is a vital part of our Legal Program. It helps us serve more clients, provides high-quality representation to survivors, and connects attorneys with fulfilling volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in getting involved with our Pro Bono Project, click here.
