After studying the issue of prostitution in Chicago for over three years, the City of Chicago Mayor's Office on Domestic Violence has identified cutting into the demand side of Chicagos sex trade industry as our number one priority to end the harms of prostitution. Focusing predominately on the supply side does little to curb the demand since the underlying beliefs, behaviors, and actions responsible for perpetuating the sex trade go unaddressed. Working towards the elimination of prostitution and sex trafficking, therefore, requires response strategies and resources that focus on cutting into the demand."
