The Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation.

The Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation, along with our community partners (Voices and Faces Project, Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Schiller DuCanto & Fleck Family Law Center of DePaul University College of Law, The Polaris Project, and Women of Power Alumni Association) have launched the campaign "End Demand, IL". The campaign is a multi-year organizing and advocacy effort to transform Illinois' response to prostitution and sex trafficking, advocate for the creation of tools and resources for law enforcement to prosecute traffickers, pimps and those who profit from prostitution, deter men from buying sex, and create social supports and services for trafficked and prostituted individuals. To learn more about the campaign, and how you can get involved, please visit www.enddemandillinois.org.

As of January 1st, 2009 CAASE and the Justice Project Against Sexual Harm (JusticePASH) Have Become One Organization

CAASE is excited to announce a new development: we have recently incorporated the Justice Project Against Sexual Harm into our own organization to create a unique Illinois not-for-profit that holistically addresses the systemic shortfalls of our society's failure to prevent and deter sexual exploitation. The Justice Project Against Sexual Harm (JusticePASH) is the only organization in the country assisting victims of sexual assault and exploitation through the use of civil law. JusticePASH supports survivors navigating the criminal justice system to ensure appropriate prosecution of their perpetrators. It also engages in policy reform to make certain that our counter-trafficking and exploitation laws are utilized to best protect and serve their constituents.

CAASE has hired Lynne Johnson as our new Advocacy Director.

Lynne has been working in the violence against women movement for over 15 years. She has served as an attorney representing battered women, managed domestic violence and rape crisis programs, served as a trainer for the Chicago Rape Crisis hotline, and has been at the Chicago Foundation for Women since 2005 first as a Program Officer and then as their Director of Advocacy. Not only does Lynne bring a wealth of experience with her to CAASE, but brings an intense passion to end sexual exploitation in all its forms. We are honored that she will join our senior staff team to help us end the perpetration of sexual harm. You can reach Lynne at: 773-244-2230 X5 or lynne@caase.org.

DO YOU HAVE AN HOUR TO HELP END SEX TRAFFICKING IN ILLINOIS?

The Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation is looking for Illinois residents from a wide range of backgrounds to share their opinions about a new campaign. You will participate in one-on-one interviews the week of August 3rd with a communications expert who will ask for your feedback about our new campaign "End Demand, IL" and help us shape the campaign's messages. "End Demand, IL" seeks to reform Illinois prostitution and sex trafficking laws.

Although at least 16,000 women and girls are prostituted and trafficked every day in the Chicago-land area, very little resources exist to help them and virtually no pimps or traffickers are brought to justice.Anyone who is interested in volunteering an hour of their time for this great cause, please email ashley@caase.org

.

Survivor Stories Still Needed

In our on-going attempts to reform how Cook County law enforcement responds to sexual harm, CAASE is seeking brief stories from survivors of sexual violence in Cook County. If you or someone you know has had such an experience, and are willing to share your story, please let us know. The stories will be used to highlight rape in our County-personal identifying information will NOT be shared, unless you want it to be. Specifically we are seeking the following:

    1)  Stories of non-stranger rape that occurred in Cook County (preferably in 2008 or 2009)
    2)  Location (zip code preferable or neighborhood/suburb)
    3)  Age/Gender
    4)  Name or Initials if you feel comfortable providing them
    5)  Any law enforcement involvement-was the case prosecuted by the State's Attorney and if so, what was the result?
    7)  A very brief two-paragraph description of the assault.

Thank you very much for your assistance. We will not share any identifying information that you do not want to provide. If possible, please provide us this information by Thursday July 30th. Please email your stories to jenna@caase.org and call us at 773/244-2230 X4 if you have any questions.
